Are ToeSox necessary?

Are ToeSox necessary? by the way that's my hudsband's ungly feet!

At first I thought, no, they look silly and serve no purpose. The need for toe separation for humans, as far as I was concerned, went out with our prehensile toes. It seemed to me that these were merely an inevitable product of our culture's need to make accessories for the simplest of activities. The ToeSox are recommended for (among other types of exercise involving feet) yoga. But who wears socks to do yoga? Aren't our feet supposed to breathe and be free? But then, as often happens when my fear of germs is triggered, I changed my mind about these goofy-looking socks:
Designed with a non-slip sole, this form-fitting second skin provides superior grip on any surface for maximum control and balance, as well as providing the hygienic benefit of an athletic sock.
Suddenly, the idea of dozens of bare feet - who knows where those feet have been? - running around the yoga studio seems highly unappetizing. Oh, and there's an argument for wearing ToeSox as an alternative to traditional mono-socks in other places too - apparently, human toes are not actually as useless as they seem. It's simply that the muscles in them have atrophied due to lack of use.
They sell for $9.95 to $11.96 on the ToeSox website.
